This is a critical short-term contract supporting a geographically significant operational sector, working closely with frontline leaders to embed safe systems of work across a fast-paced, high-risk environment. Role Details Location: Goulburn (primary base) Duration: 16-week contract Start Date: ASAP Rate: $40.00 – $61.00 super (PAYG / ABN options available) Work Arrangements: Primarily onsite; potential for limited WFH following induction Travel: Occasional travel may be required Extension: Not available at this stage Hours: Full-time preferred This role sits within a broader Safety Partnering function and plays a key role in supporting leaders to manage risk, improve safety performance, and ensure compliance with contemporary WHS legislation and frameworks. About the Role As a Safety Business Partner, you will provide expert WHS advice and hands-on operational support to sector leaders, managers, and frontline teams. You will be embedded within a highly operational environment and will be responsible for driving safety culture, supporting incident and risk management activities, and strengthening leadership capability in WHS practices. You will be working across a large and diverse operational footprint, supporting teams across station-based and office environments, with exposure to real-time operational risk and critical incident response environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned WHS professional who thrives in complex, high-tempo settings and can operate independently while influencing senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Partner with operational leaders to embed a strong and proactive safety culture across the sector Provide practical, operational WHS advice aligned with legislative and regulatory requirements Coach managers, supervisors, and Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to build WHS capability and confidence Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of WHS management systems and processes Manage incident and risk processes including review of incident data, risk registers, and investigation support (including ICAM methodology where required) Analyse WHS data and reporting trends to identify emerging risks and provide actionable insights to leadership Act as a key point of contact for regulatory engagement including SafeWork NSW where required Support consistent application of WHS policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across safety systems and operational practices About You You are an experienced WHS professional who is confident working in complex, operational environments. You bring a strong balance of technical WHS knowledge, stakeholder engagement capability, and practical problem-solving skills. You will have: Extensive experience in Work Health and Safety within large, complex service-based organisations Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and compliance frameworks Experience in incident management, risk assessment, and safety investigations Demonstrated ability to coach and influence operational leaders and frontline staff Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with regulators or unions Ability to analyse WHS data and translate insights into practical improvements Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (essential); additional qualifications highly regarded Confidence working autonomously in fast-paced, high-risk operational environments Why Apply?
