Position Description Our North Lakes Region is actively recruiting for a Local Area Coordinator – Community Partnerships (Multicultural Communities) role. The role will deliver the NDIS LAC program by working with a broad cross section of community from people with disability, their supporters, community members, organisations and community leaders. Through this work you will connect people with supports that will enable active participation in economic, social and community life which may include accessing and navigating the NDIS. You will use your experience in multicultural communities and understanding the value and benefit of applying inclusive, cross cultural practices across our communities and workplaces to achieve outcomes. Our LAC – Community Partnerships (Multicultural Communities) position works together with our front-line LAC’s, serving the community by delivering the NDIS LAC PITC program To deliver this role you will draw on your experience working with communities and your understanding of the value and benefit of applying inclusive practices across our communities and workplaces. Your work will provide education, connections and support to improve inclusion in the community, and to assist people with disability, families and carers to build their capacity to participate in their community. The position works in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team, Team Leaders and Practice Leads across the program to implement high-quality community engagement and capacity building plans and activities that will improve outcomes for people with disability, support best practice, enhance our customers’ experience and strengthen the delivery of the Local Area Coordination Partner in the Community Program. Some of your key responsibilities will include: Plan, engage and review community capacity building activities that provide education, connection and support to assist people with disability, their families and carers to build their capacity for social and economic participation, and to improve community inclusion. Work with key community leaders and stakeholders (including local government, businesses and community organisations) through planned, strategic engagement activities to support the inclusion of people with disability from multicultural communities. Work directly with people with disability, their families and carers to connect with support that enables them to participate actively in community life including supporting them with accessing and navigating the NDIS. Provide mentoring and coaching support to colleagues to lead best practice in working with diverse communities.
