About the Role We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the delivery of complex ICT initiatives within a Federal Government environment. This role focuses on building secure, scalable, and high-performing full-stack solutions using modern .NET and React technologies within Azure cloud environments. You will contribute to end-to-end delivery across backend services, APIs, and front-end applications, working within Agile teams to deliver robust and user-focused digital solutions. Position : Software Engineer – $800–$1,200/day super Location : ACT (Onsite) Working Arrangement : Onsite (flexibility considered case-by-case) Start Date : 1 July 2026 Duration : 12 months 2 x 12-month extensions Application Window : Closing 24 April 2026 Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain secure backend services using modern .NET and Web APIs Build responsive front-end applications using React Design and implement RESTful APIs including versioning and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger) Integrate internal and third-party systems across cloud and enterprise environments Apply secure coding practices and manage secrets using tools such as Azure Key Vault Develop and execute automated tests (unit, integration, UI) Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Monitor system performance and implement observability practices (e.g. Application Insights) Collaborate with product, UX, security, and operations teams in Agile environments Conduct peer code reviews and maintain code quality standards Produce technical documentation, release notes, and operational runbooks Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives About You Minimum 10 years’ experience developing secure, scalable web-based applications Strong experience with .NET (including modern versions) and Web APIs Proficiency in front-end development using React Experience designing and implementing REST APIs including security protocols (OAuth2/OIDC) Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Functions, SQL, Service Bus, API Management) Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps Strong understanding of cloud-native and event-driven architecture patterns Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g. xUnit, nUnit, Selenium, Playwright) Familiarity with ISM security controls and secure development practices Experience integrating with enterprise systems such as Dynamics 365 (desirable) Ability to work effectively in Agile, multi-disciplinary teams Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Relevant tertiary qualifications in software engineering or related field (desirable) Must be able to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance Must have valid working rights in Australia (Australian Citizen or long-term visa holders only; no sponsorship available) As a mandatory requirement for this contract role required by our client, applicants are kindly asked to complete a compliance check and upload their work rights verification at .
