Lead Architect – Cloud Canberra ACT | NV1 minimum (NV2 preferred) | Hybrid The Opportunity Our Client is seeking a Lead Architect – Cloud to join a high-performing Sovereign IT services and consulting business delivering complex, secure cloud transformation initiatives. This is a senior, high-impact role leading end-to-end Azure migration programs across large-scale, mission-critical environments. You’ll operate across strategy, architecture, and hands-on delivery, ensuring architectural integrity from initial discovery through to post-migration optimisation. If you’ve genuinely delivered large-scale cloud migrations — not just designed them — this role offers the opportunity to lead from the front. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll own architectural outcomes across full lifecycle migration programs, including: Leading end-to-end Azure migration architecture (discovery -> design -> migration -> optimisation) Designing secure, CAF-aligned landing zones Driving workload rationalisation (8Rs) and migration wave planning Governing architecture through design authorities and review boards Providing hands-on guidance to engineering teams during delivery Designing secure cloud environments aligned to ISM, PSPF & Essential Eight Supporting IRAP readiness and compliance alignment Acting as a trusted technical advisor to senior stakeholders Mentoring architects and contributing to pre-sales and solution design What You Bring This role is about proven delivery, not just certifications. 10 years experience in enterprise / solution architecture Demonstrated experience leading Azure cloud migrations end-to-end Deep understanding of the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) Hands-on capability - able to troubleshoot complex technical issues directly Experience applying ISM, PSPF, and Essential Eight in real environments Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders Experience working across multi-disciplinary delivery teams Highly Regarded Experience in Federal Government or Defence environments IRAP exposure or assessment support Hybrid cloud, networking, and security architecture depth NV2 clearance Technology Environment You’ll work across a modern, enterprise-grade stack including: Azure (IaaS/PaaS), M365, VMware Azure Migrate, Terraform, Bicep, DevOps pipelines Entra ID (IAM, PIM, Conditional Access) Azure Firewall, WAF, ExpressRoute, SASE Azure Virtual Desktop & End User Compute Monitoring, SIEM, and operational tooling Why Join Lead large-scale, mission-critical cloud migration programs Operate in a role that blends strategy and hands-on architecture Work within a high-performing, technically strong team Influence enterprise cloud strategy and transformation outcomes Clearance Requirements NV1 clearance (minimum) required NV2 highly preferred Apply If you’re a delivery-focused Cloud Architect ready to lead complex migration programs in secure environments, we’d like to hear from you.
