We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our growing practice. This role is suited to a technically strong professional who can deliver high-quality tax compliance and advisory services while managing client relationships. You will play a key role in supporting a diverse client base and contributing to the firm’s ongoing growth. Role Summary As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns, ensuring compliance with Australian taxation laws, and providing practical, commercially focused advice. You will work closely with clients to understand their financial position and assist in optimising outcomes while maintaining strict compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, and IAS for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships. Ensure compliance with Australian taxation legislation and ATO requirements, including timely lodgements. Identify tax planning opportunities and provide strategic advice to minimise tax liabilities. Manage client relationships, respond to queries, and provide clear, practical financial guidance. Review and oversee bookkeeping functions, including reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger integrity. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for clients. Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients where required. Utilise accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and Sage to maintain accurate efficiency and service delivery. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA, CA, or IPA qualification (or near completion) is highly regarded. Minimum 5 years’ experience in public practice within Australia. Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation, accounting standards, and compliance requirements. Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, MYOB, Sage) and Microsoft Excel. High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and competing priorities.
