About the role We are seeking an intelligent and highly motivated Senior Associate level lawyer with between 5-8 years of experience to join our Professional Indemnity practice in Sydney, led by Partner, David Lee, recognised as a leading insurance and litigation lawyer. This role will involve interaction with our London colleagues in the professional and financial disputes space. We are growing the practice, and it is a great opportunity for a smart and ambitious lawyer to work alongside the Partner and Special Counsel with exposure to large scale, high value, multi-party, and/or multi-jurisdiction litigation. The position involves the defence of complex indemnity claims, including disputes across financial lines, D&O and public liability matters. The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily involved in all aspects of matters allowing you to make a significant contribution to their outcome. This role will allow you to continue to develop your professional and personal brand. Key skills and experience You will be an ambitious and established lawyer in Australia, New Zealand or overseas, particularly the UK, with the following core competencies: general insurance litigation, financial lines, professional indemnity, and/or director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred. a strong private practice background where you have ideally had exposure to some or all of the types of matters detailed above. experience working with, and analysing, high volume data sets and evidence. strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills. firmly established time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively. demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently. commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partners, actively developing these client relationships.
