About the Team & the Position AEMO is responsible for coordinating response to significant cyber incidents with the potential to impact the secure operation of electricity and gas systems and markets. Additionally, AEMO is responsible for supporting and undertaking the development and delivery of cyber exercises to test and improve the resilience of electricity and gas systems and markets to cyber threats. As the Specialist for Energy Market Cyber Exercises, you will be responsible for the design, planning, execution and continuous improvement of AEMO’s cyber incident response exercise program. This plan will include several types of exercises, including: Exercises of varying levels of sophistication and complexity, including tabletop, functional and live-fire exercises. Joint exercises that include a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders, including market participants, government agencies, and internal AEMO stakeholders such as legal, external affairs, other Digital teams and crisis and emergency management exercises in partnership with AEMO’s emergency preparedness function. Internal exercises designed to test AEMO’s cyber incident coordination functions. You will apply your extensive knowledge of and experience in exercise delivery, incident coordination and the energy sector to forge effective partnerships and improve the Australian energy sector‘s readiness for cyber events. Your understanding of energy transformation and cyber security challenges will be applied to optimize sector level responses to cyber threats and their management Position Responsibilities Plan, deliver and report on the status of AEMO’s cyber incident response exercise plan and strategy. Lead the delivery of cyber incident response exercises, including tabletop, functional and live-fire exercises. Coordinate AEMO’s participation in joint exercises led by key partners across industry and government. Facilitate complex and large-scale cyber incident response exercises, including speaking in front of large audiences of diverse stakeholders. Document exercise outcomes in reports and other artefacts as required. Lead and coordinate AEMO and the Australian energy sector’s participation in exercises led by international partners. Document, consult, track and support the completion of post-exercise improvement actions. Position Requirements Skills & Experience: Proven experience in cyber security and/or technology resilience. Experience with critical infrastructure, and in particular energy, is favourable. Demonstrable incident coordination and/or response experience. Demonstrable cyber incident response exercise planning and facilitation experience. Exceptional communication and facilitation skills. Contemporary knowledge of adversary tradecraft and defensive cyber security operations. Experience with vendor performance management. Ability to travel interstate and work flexible hours. Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance . Education/ professional Certifications: Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in cyber security / computer science or technology-related field. Recognized professional certifications in Cyber Security preferred.
