About Us First Choice Legal is a Sydney-based law firm specialising in criminal defence matters across New South Wales. We represent clients in the Local Court, District Court and Supreme Court, handling matters ranging from traffic offences and bail applications through to complex indictable matters. Our practice operates in a fast-paced legal environment where matters require careful preparation, strong procedural knowledge and professional client management. About the Role This role involves supporting solicitors across a range of criminal defence matters from early preparation through to hearing and trial. You will play a key role in ensuring matters are properly prepared for court and that procedural requirements and deadlines are met. Key responsibilities include: Drafting affidavits, character references and sentencing materials Assisting with bail applications and bail variation applications Preparing court bundles and hearing materials for Local Court and District Court matters Reviewing and organising briefs of evidence and prosecution material Assisting solicitors with preparation for sentences, hearings and trials Drafting correspondence to courts, prosecutors and other solicitors Preparing subpoenas and notices to produce and other court documents Preparing instructions and materials for counsel Filing documents via the NSW Online Registry Liaising with court registries, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Managing court lists, filing deadlines and key court dates Communicating with clients to obtain instructions and documentation Maintaining accurate and organised digital and physical legal files
