Most of our stores have a furniture delivery and donation collection service, which requires skilled, logistical and physically fit Drivers and Driver Assistants to match the demands of this role. The Driver’s Assistant plays a key part in supporting the Driver, not only assisting the Driver in manoeuvring goods, but also providing navigational and customer contact assistance. The Driving team also works closely with Retail Warehouse or Store Donation Sorting Team Members to ensure an orderly and safe intake and storage of donated goods, as well as assist with managing waste and recycling. Key responsibilities Driving assistance and goods handling: Bringing initiative and ability to anticipate the Driver’s needs, assist with navigation and customer phone contact, as well as providing a professional, safe and reliable collection/delivery and storage of goods. Vehicle care: Assist the Driver in ensuring the vehicle is safe and fully operational by regularly checking tyres, fuel levels and monitoring oil and water levels. Diligently ensure vehicle is checked before each shift and rectify any issues before collecting donations, reporting issues and repairs to . Administration: Assist the Driver in filling in the vehicle log book and ensuring an identification badge and uniform is worn at all times. Communications: Ensure customers and donors are provided updates on collection/delivery times; assist with communicating to regarding any concerns that may arise or if regular service is due. Child Safety: This role is not expected to interact with children so ensure donors/customers are aware that a parent or guardian must be supervising if there are children present at the collection/delivery location. Qualifications and skills (desired/required) Good communication skills are required Customer service experience highly regarded Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation.
