What we are looking for: We have an opening for an experienced asset management professional with strong technical capability, strategic thinking and the confidence to influence decisions across the organisation. This role leads Council’s asset management function, driving strategy, lifecycle planning and renewal programs across transport, drainage and coastal infrastructure. You’ll strengthen asset intelligence, optimise performance and guide a multidisciplinary team to ensure our assets meet service levels and comply with organisational and legislative requirements. What your day will look like: Lead the development and delivery of asset management strategies, plans and renewal programs to optimise lifecycle performance and service levels. Monitor asset performance and analyse data to identify operational, maintenance and capital improvement needs across transport, drainage and coastal infrastructure. Oversee the Asset Management System, ensuring accurate asset data, effective work order processes and strong integration with planning and delivery functions. Provide specialist technical advice, reports and briefings to senior management, elected representatives and internal stakeholders to support informed decision‑making. Lead, mentor and develop asset management staff while managing renewal projects and contributing to financial planning, statutory reporting and continuous improvement. Please click here to view a full position description. What you’ll need for success: Tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 or above) in civil engineering or a related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in contemporary asset management and lifecycle planning, including leading asset management plans, business cases and investment decisions informed by asset criticality, inspection regimes and preventative maintenance strategies. Strong understanding of construction, renewal and maintenance practices for roads, bridges, drainage and coastal infrastructure, with the ability to interpret technical standards and assess constructability and delivery risks. Proven ability to provide strategic and operational advice, supported by well‑developed interpersonal, consultation and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership capability, including coaching, developing and supporting staff to deliver high‑quality services. Extensive experience with Asset Management Systems, GIS platforms and Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyse complex datasets and support evidence‑based planning and reporting. Valid C or CA class driver licence and General Construction Induction (White Card). What’s nice to have: Postgraduate qualification (AQF Level 8 or above) in a civil engineering‑related field.
