Join a local construction business in the heart of Sydney Your new company Our client is a respected organisation in the construction sector. They are an SME based in the heart of Sydney. Theyre seeking an experienced Accountant to join the finance team and ensure day-to-day financial operations run accurately and on time. Your new role As an Accountant, youll be a key member of the finance team, reporting to the Accounting Manager. Youll own month-end processes, treasury tasks, and reporting across multiple entities, while supporting the executive team and divisional managers with clear, timely insights. This is a hands-on role that keeps the finance function running smoothly through diligent controls, accurate reporting, and dependable execution. Key responsibilities include: Month-end: Manage close, process costing and general journals, and prepare reporting packs across multiple entities. Reconciliations: Complete bank, balance sheet, fuel, and prepaid expense reconciliations. Assets and guarantees: Maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation schedule, and bank guarantee register (new issues and collections). Payroll: Oversee monthly payroll and superannuation. Reporting and compliance: Support budgeting and forecasting; assist with end-of-year statutory accounts for all legal entities. Systems and controls: Maintain and optimise Cheops and ensure internal processes and controls are adhered to. Stakeholder support: Interpret and summarise contract/project cost reports for executive and divisional managers; provide ad-hoc finance admin support. What you'll need to succeed Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline CA/CPA qualification (or working towards) Experience in accounting and month-end processes Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and collaborative approach Experience with CHEOPS is highly regarded What you'll get in return Youll join a supportive and forward-thinking team that values innovation and continuous improvement.
