Immediate start Melbourne CBD location/WFH Arrangement About the role Utilities provider requires an experienced Communications and Engagement Advisor to join them on a short-term contract for a period of up to 3 months based in Melbourne CBD. As the Communications and Engagement Advisor, you will develop and lead communication and engagement strategies that support the complex projects and business initiatives for the organisation. Responsibilities and duties Key tasks and responsibilities will include: Leading and delivering integrated communication and community engagement strategies across complex projects, using digital and face-to-face channels. Delivering consultation and engagement activities, including stakeholder engagement, community sessions, door-knocking and online engagement. Providing practical advice to project managers on planning and statutory approval processes. Advising internal teams and delivery partners on managing complex and sensitive issues. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and agency partners. Provide communication, engagement and media support during and after incidents. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge and skills that you will need to demonstrate include: Experience developing and delivering proactive and innovative community engagement strategies on complex projects, business strategies or sensitive community issues. Exceptional emotional intelligence, advocating on behalf of the community, whilst also ensuring business objectives are met. Exceptional social awareness and ability to quickly and creatively redesign engagement activities to meet community expectations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an eye for detail. Experience working in sensitive political environments. Highly developed group facilitation skills Experienced in online engagement techniques, social media and digital content creation. Demonstrated experience working across the IAP2 spectrum. Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement or a related discipline or relevant working experience would be well regarded. Experience working in government and/or on significant and complex infrastructure projects.
