This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced data science to meaningful, high-scale business challenges, directly influencing operational performance and strategic decision-making. As a Mid-Level Data Scientist, you'll: Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation and data presentation to develop strategic business solutions Design and engineer meaningful features to quantify business system performance and enhance model accuracy Conduct complex statistical analyses and modelling, selecting appropriate tools and methodologies Build, test and deploy machine learning models with minimal supervision, often developing bespoke solutions Develop reusable scripts and tools to streamline data processing Communicate technical insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand, define and solve business challenges Conduct and document experiments to test hypotheses and improve technological systems and operations You'll have - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline such as statistics, mathematics, physics, econometrics or computer science 3 years’ experience in Data Science or a related field Demonstrated experience applying data science to improve business performance and strategy Experience designing, conducting and documenting experiments to validate hypotheses and optimise systems Strong grounding in statistical methods and machine learning algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, A/B testing, probability) Ability to select the most appropriate modelling approach for a given problem Proficiency in Python , with pandas, numpy, scikit-learn and related data science libraries Solid software engineering practices aligned with industry standards Experience delivering end-to-end data science projects that are robust, scalable, maintainable and well-documented Strong experimental design skills and critical thinking capabilities Ability to communicate technical findings clearly in written, verbal and visual formats Understanding of ethical considerations in model development and deployment Experience with deep learning, particularly in language and visual applications (desirable, but not required) Experience with AWS (desirable, but not required) The ability to work at our HQ in Waterloo 5 days a week.
