The Role They are seeking a full time Engineering Technologist to join their team in Seven Hills in NSW. The Engineering Technologist will be responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and deployment of control and automation systems. The role requires applying engineering principles to address complex technical challenges, assist in project execution, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This is for a full time position at an annual salary between $77,000 to $80,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. The Responsibilities Analyse client operational requirements and develop engineering solutions for automation and control system applications Design, configure, and optimise PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial processes and machinery control Prepare technical specifications, system architectures, I/O schedules, and functional design documentation Develop control logic, algorithms, and software configurations to improve process efficiency, safety, and reliability Conduct system integration of instrumentation, sensors, actuators, drives, and communication networks Perform testing, commissioning, and validation of automation systems to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards Troubleshoot control system faults, electrical issues, and communication failures across operational environments Analyse production data and system performance to recommend optimisation strategies and process improvements Assist in electrical and control panel design, including layout, component selection, and compliance with standards Coordinate with engineers, electricians, technicians, and project managers during project delivery phases Ensure compliance with Australian standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices Prepare technical reports, manuals, and documentation for installation, operation, and maintenance Support upgrades, retrofits, and migration of legacy control systems to modern platforms Provide on site technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities Liaise with clients to clarify requirements, provide technical advice, and ensure project objectives are met Monitor system performance post implementation and implement corrective or preventive measures The requirements Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field. Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering, including PLC, SCADA, and HMI platforms At least 2 years of experience in system integration and commissioning of complex industrial equipment and processes Minimum 2 years of experience in troubleshooting and optimisation of control systems within operational industrial environments At least 2 years of experience working with industrial communication protocols; Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, or similar Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical control panel design and instrumentation systems At least 2 years of experience delivering projects across multiple industries such as manufacturing, utilities, mining, or infrastructure Strong knowledge of control systems, automation, instrumentation, and industrial processes. Familiarity with Australian engineering standards and workplace safety regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills. Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration abilities. Prior experience in an engineering technologist or similar role is preferred. Work may involve exposure to industrial environments, requiring adherence to safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
