About the role Join our team as an Assistant Payroll Manager and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely payroll services across the organisation. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will help oversee day to day payroll operations, support the payroll team and ensure a smooth and efficient payroll function. You will contribute to maintaining system integrity, strengthening processes and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards and enterprise agreements. This role offers the opportunity to combine your payroll expertise with leadership support, helping drive accuracy, efficiency and continuous improvement across the payroll function. Key responsibilities include: Assist the Payroll Manager with the management of the payroll function. Support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. Provide leadership and guidance to payroll team members. Manage payroll adjustments, reconciliations and reporting. Liaise with internal stakeholders including HR, Finance and operational teams. Liaise with external bodies including the ATO, Superannuation Clearing Houses and payroll vendors. Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of payroll systems including Dayforce and Emplive. Ensure payroll data integrity and system compliance. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of payroll records. Identify and implement payroll process improvements. Assist in payroll audits, reporting and compliance activities. About you We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with: Essential Criteria: Minimum 10 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing. Demonstrated experience supporting payroll operations in a high-volume payroll environment. Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and compliance requirements. Experience interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and employment contracts. Experience working with payroll and workforce management systems. High level attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy. Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills. Desirable Criteria: Hands on Payroll experience in the care sector (e.g.: hospitals, disability services). Experience using Dayforce and Emplive payroll/HR systems (highly regarded). Tertiary qualifications in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, HR or a related field. Experience supporting payroll system implementations or upgrades.
