Job Description Join Us as Chief Engineer - Trading & Analytics Platform What’s the Role We are seeking an accomplished Chief Engineer – Trading & Analytics Platform to lead the design, delivery, and evolution of enterprise-grade analytics capabilities that power trading desks and treasury functions. This is a senior leadership role with significant influence over platform strategy, engineering excellence, and large-scale technology transformation in a regulated financial services environment. You will lead a high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering function and partner closely with trading, treasury, risk, and senior technology stakeholders to deliver real-time insights, advanced analytics, and scalable data platforms that drive commercial outcomes. Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers (data, platform, and analytics), fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Platform Ownership: Own the end-to-end delivery and operation of analytics platforms supporting trading and treasury, including real-time insights, risk analytics, and regulatory reporting. Enterprise Transformation: Drive large-scale transformation initiatives with an enterprise mindset—modernising legacy platforms, consolidating data estates, and enabling scalable, self-service analytics across the organisation. Technical Strategy & Roadmap: Define and execute the technical roadmap for cloud-native big data platforms, ensuring alignment with business priorities, security, governance, resilience, and cost optimisation. AI-Assisted Engineering: Champion the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices. Leverage tools such as Claude Code or Context Code to build and deploy accelerators (e.g. code generation, automated testing, pipeline optimisation, documentation) that measurably improve delivery velocity and engineering productivity. Stakeholder Partnership: Partner closely with trading, treasury, risk, and technology leadership to translate complex business requirements into robust, production-grade analytics solutions. Engineering Standards & Governance: Establish and uphold engineering excellence standards across platform observability, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, data quality, and automated testing. Commercial & Risk Management: Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and cross-functional dependencies while maintaining an enterprise-wide view of platform strategy, technology risk, and regulatory compliance. What do I need? Experience: Over 10 years of progressive engineering leadership experience within financial services or capital markets. 3–5 years in a senior role such as Chief Engineer, Head of Engineering, or equivalent platform leadership position. Proven success leading teams of engineers delivering analytics or data platform solutions in trading and/or treasury environments. Transformation & Platforms: Strong enterprise mindset with hands-on experience leading major transformation initiatives (e.g. cloud data platform migrations, data mesh implementations, analytics modernisation programs). Deep expertise in cloud platforms (Azure or AWS; certifications highly regarded). Extensive production experience with at least one modern big data platform: Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Databricks (multi-platform exposure advantageous). AI & Engineering Productivity: Up to 1 year of hands-on experience actively using AI coding and productivity tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cortex Code). Demonstrated examples of deploying AI-enabled accelerators that improved delivery speed, code quality, or operational efficiency. Regulated Environments: Proven success operating in regulated financial services environments, with strong understanding of risk, compliance, audit, and data governance. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
