The opportunity As an Associate Operations Engineer in Modern Operations, you’ll help support and enable a cloud-native IT environment—learning modern tools and best practices while building the foundations of reliable, secure, and scalable platforms. You’ll work with guidance from experienced Modern Ops leaders as you develop your capability across DevOps, cloud operations, and modern reliability practices. This role is ideal for someone early in their cloud/data and AI ops journey who’s excited to learn fast, contribute meaningfully, and grow into bigger responsibilities over time Please note that this role requires Australian Citizenship and it is based in Sydney. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll support the Modern Ops team across day-to-day operations and continuous improvement, including: Helping manage and support cloud infrastructure in a modern, cloud-native or data and AI driven environments Supporting CI/CD practices to enable safe, repeatable, reliable deployments Assisting with incident management and learning how to restore services quickly and safely Supporting security & compliance practices to keep environments protected and standards-aligned Contributing to performance optimisation and reliability improvements Helping drive automation & scripting to reduce manual effort and improve consistency You’ll also be in an environment where Modern Ops is evolving toward more intelligent, automated operations—giving you exposure to modern approaches and emerging technology in operations. What You’ll Bring We’re looking for strong fundamentals, a growth mindset, and curiosity—plus a baseline understanding in areas such as: Foundational knowledge of DevOps principles & practices Exposure to CI/CD and automation concepts Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) A practical understanding of Windows and/or Linux operating systems (as discussed for the updated profile) Interest in keeping up with emerging technologies (including AI/ML) and how they may shape operations And just as importantly, you’ll bring the human skills that make great consultants: clear communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
