About the Role This is a specialised consulting role undertaking Fire Safety Surveys across Defence bases nationally. Working on a structured fortnightly cycle: Week 1 – Home-based report writing Week 2 – Travel nationally (typically depart Sunday, return Friday) You will have a TOIL day for the Sunday. You will deploy to Defence establishments across Australia to conduct Fire Safety Surveys in accordance with: Defence Manual of Fire Protection Engineering (MFPE) Defence Building Works Manual (BWM) National Construction Code (NCC) Relevant Australian Standards Training will be provided for the Defence specific requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting detailed onsite fire safety and building code assessments Reviewing maintenance and essential services records Preparing comprehensive Fire Safety Survey reports Assigning rectification priorities and indicative costings Creating Statements of Classification Providing technical advice to Defence representatives Liaising with Base Managers and maintenance contractors Identifying and escalating urgent safety risks This role requires strong autonomy, integrity and the confidence to communicate clearly within secure Defence environments. About You Accredited Level 1 Building Surveyor (Level 2 considered) Accredited under the Professional Standards Scheme (AIBS) Strong working knowledge of NCC / BCA and Australian Standards Experience applying fire safety and essential services legislation General knowledge of Defence fire safety frameworks highly regarded but NOT a requirement Strategic thinker able to interpret legislation quickly and accurately Strong written reporting capability with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Confident communicator when liaising with Defence personnel Self-driven with the ability to work autonomously and within a team Training will be provided to align with TTBC’s systems, processes and Defence procedures. Security & Compliance Requirements Must be an Australian Citizen Ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA Security Clearance Meet DCAC requirements 10-year checkable background history Remuneration & Benefits Approx. $210K total salary package Base salary starting from $150K (negotiable based on experience) Superannuation paid as per standard requirements Accommodation paid by TTBC when away from home Daily meal allowance (currently $197 per day in line with ATO guidelines) when working away TOIL provided for Sunday travel and weekend requirements Structured fortnightly roster (1 week home / 1 week travel) Brisbane-based candidates preferred, though other locations will be considered.
