The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) is a statutory authority established under the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia Act (2013) to foster and promote minerals research for the benefit of Western Australia. We achieve impact through a range of activities including providing grant funding, delivering an annual events program, awarding PhD scholarships and initiating research programs in strategic focus areas of high value to the State. Our current focus areas are guided by the medium to long term challenges facing the State’s minerals industry and include: net zero emission mining, green steel, exploration amplification, alternative use of tailings and waste, precision and low-impact mining, mineral carbonation and METS (Mining Equipment, Technology and Services) innovation. The position We are seeking motivated and talented Level 5 project professionals to join the MRIWA team and contribute to the design and delivery of our research functions. One position is currently available, and this process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within MRIWA over the next 12 months. Reporting to the Strategic Project Manager, the successful candidate will join a small, highly integrated team with a focus on supporting MRIWA to deliver new and existing initiatives. With attention to detail and a strong focus on initiative and efficiency, Project Officers take responsibility for coordinating delivery of key functions such as MRIWA’s research funding assessment processes, and contributing to process development and improvement across new programs and initiatives. The roles will also be responsible for undertaking research and analysis, managing projects or components of complex projects, contributing to project design and delivery across our focus areas, and supporting development of cross-government initiatives. This work will involve engaging across MRIWA’s networks to contribute to building and supporting MRIWA’s performance and innovation culture.
