Due to the ongoing expansion of its business, Aspen is looking for a Cabinet Maker to assist on all facets of its long-standing joinery business. POSITION OBJECTIVES Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, the CNC Operator is responsible for the performance and output of a work team, in terms of speed, quality, accuracy, skills development and teamwork. The CNC Operator is an integral part of the work team utilising the equipment to produce quality output. The position is expected to organise, coordinate, and supervise a team of workers in the fulfilment of their individual key performance indicators (KPIs). They are also expected to train members of their team and other teams in areas where they hold specific skills. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operate machines to ensure maximum capacity is maintained through production. Minimise the risk of board damage by keeping board stock neat, in order and labelled and is handled appropriately whilst processing Ensure output capacity is maximised by keeping machines fed with product Ensure that machine or product issues are identified in a timely manner and are reported to the Factory Manager so as to minimise potential inpacts on established schedules Tasks Safely operate machinery Stacking machined parts onto trolleys &/or pallets Resolving program error codes Material handling (offcuts) Clean & maintain machines to ensure they are kept in a healthy operational state WHS responsibilities Uphold all WHS policies and procedures Monitor risks and report safety issues immediately Keep area clean and monitor hazardous obstructions Ensure tools are maintained appropriately and are used correctly Mentor and train apprentices, work with students as and when required Manage work to minimise potential effects on established schedules Participate in performance appraisals when due KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 1. Follow procedure to produce product and deliver in full on time 2. Minimise number of defects reaching site, reporting issues immediately 3. Maintain and improve productivity in factory, as applicable to the role 4. Minimise incidents/injuries by adhering to Aspen WHS policies and procedures and reporting any immediately to the Factory Manager. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Essential Proven experience in operating a range of production machinery Ability to train others in their use Proven experience in maintaining machinery in accordance with maintenance schedules Proficient time management skills and the ability to work within established production schedules Problem solving skills, allowing for fast decision making as required Ability to identify current or potential errors based on design information provided Ability to maintain sustained level of concentration, motivation in a repetitive environment to ensure accuracy Competent to work autonomously and with a team, without regular supervision Excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally. Have the appropriate physical attributes required to work in an environment that requires lifting and long periods of physical activity Desirable Relevant Qualification or willingness to obtain First Aid Certificate Current Forklift ticket PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Ability to work under pressure and follow process Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
