Position description We seek an enthusiastic Laboratory 2IC to join our laboratory in Mildura. Working closely with the Laboratory Manager, you will be an essential senior team member, and your responsibilities will include the following: Overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory and delivering exceptional high-quality pathology service Participating in staff rostering and on-call roster to ensure the highest level of staff performance Operating in a multi-skilled capacity on disciplines including Haematology, Blood Bank, Biochemistry, Coagulation and Morphology areas Collaborating with other stakeholders, such as managers and other laboratories, to ensure the timely processing of work Ensuring compliance of quality control and regulatory procedures, such as NATA internal audits and Interlab Ideal candidate We are proud to say we have a learning and supportive environment, and full training will be provided. We are looking for the following: Graduated with a medical science degree or recognised AIMS equivalent Minimum two years’ experience as a senior scientist in a healthcare pathology capacity across multiple disciplines, including Haematology, Blood Bank, Biochemistry, Coagulation and Morphology areas Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the pathology industry, proficiency in clinical department processes and strong attention to detail Is passionate about leading a team and can deliver multiple conflicting outcomes in a timely manner. Thrives in a fast-paced environment and be a team player Excellent people management skills and is open to teaching and coaching staff members The laboratory 2IC will become the central point of contact for laboratory staff and external enquiries when the Laboratory Manager is away or unavailable.
