About The Role Directly lead and manage a small group of E&H Advisors, being responsible day-to-day resource management. Mentor and guide your E&H Advisors, supporting their development. Identify environmental risks, develop appropriate mitigations, and facilitate project delivery through relevant approvals or permits. Prepare documentation including Desktop Assessments, Impact Assessments, and Management Plans. Conduct site work and inspections as needed including; technical surveys, site meetings, delivering inductions and briefings, compliance inspections, assisting project teams to install controls (such as no-go zones), and post-works completions inspections. Prepare, review, and revise reports on environmental management at V/Line work sites. Complete environmental investigation reports as needed. Communicate environmental information to relevant stakeholders. Enhance awareness and understanding of environment and heritage management within V/Line. Liaise with Regulatory Agencies Identify permitting requirements and statutory pathways including obtaining permits and approvals. Site Visits & Travel This role requires travel to sites throughout regional Victoria. It’s a great way to get out to the regions and see our beautiful State. Site work often includes: Providing onsite support to significant asset management works to maintain compliance with environmental and heritage legislation and internal procedures. Attending site inspections, pre-start meetings, and staff/contractor inductions to verify there is an appropriate level of understanding of environmental controls (legislation, procedures, CEMPs). Undertaking site inspections during works to ensure compliance with environmental controls. There will be some evenings, weekends, overnight stays, and overtime, with reimbursements for all travel-related meals and accommodation. A valid Driver Licence is essential, and a Tool-of-Trade vehicle will be provided. The ability to undertake solo journeys and operate a 4WD vehicle will be an advantage. About You To be eligible for consideration to this role, it is essential that you have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as such as Ecology, Environmental Management, or Heritage. We are seeking a confident and capable professional who can demonstrate capability across the following key criteria: Environmental Legislation and Systems: Understanding of Commonwealth and Victorian Environmental & Heritage legislation. Familiarity with EMS and ISO 14001:2015. Qualifications: tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as such as Ecology, Environmental Management, or Heritage Industry Experience: At least 5 years’ experience and subject matter expertise in a relevant discipline such as such as Ecology, Environmental Management, or Heritage. Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead a small team, coach and mentor, inspire and motivate. Experience in managing performance and development is a plus. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Effective stakeholder engagement and consultation skills. Ability to communicate environmental information to diverse audiences. Valid driver licence. It is desirable that you have Arc GIS experience, VQA accreditation or relevant accreditation for your area of subject matter expertise. To be considered for entry into the selection process for this role, applicants must meet the following 'key selection criteria' which forms part of our merit-based recruitment process: Sound understanding of Commonwealth and Victorian Environmental & Heritage legislation Diploma or higher in Environmental Management, Ecology, Heritage or a related discipline Subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas: ecology and vegetation assessment, contaminated land management, heritage. At least 5 years’ experience in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or related field Ability to lead a small team in delivering effective project outcomes Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor Valid Drivers License The selection process may include aptitude assessments and a behavioural interview.
