Metering Services is responsible for the strategic management of Icon Water’s water metering assets, including the development and delivery of metering strategies and the capital works program for water meters.About this role: This role has primary responsibility for the management of Icon Water’s water meter fleet including strategy, asset planning, maintenance, replacement, innovation and customer service to support accurate customer billing.In this role you will Lead and coordinate the development, implementation, and review of the Water Metering Strategy, including metered standpipes and smart metering products and services, and contribute to the development, review, and updating of the metering components of the Asset Management Plans.Responsibilities of this role: To be successful in this role you will be required to provide oversight of the lifecycle management of water metering assets and associated functions, ensuring assets are managed in accordance with agreed standards, risk frameworks, and continuous improvement practices. You will also be required to:Lead the planning and coordination of the water meter works program (planned and reactive), including compliance testing activities, meter replacement criteria, performance targets, and metrics.Provide technical advice and operational support to the Key Accounts and Revenue Assurance Team.Lead and supervise the metering team responsible for the delivery of day‑to‑day operational activities, including:Meter‑related customer complaint investigationsMeter defect identification and investigationsIssuing of meters and meter inspectionsMeter reading and remote meter reading support (including alarms and alerts)Backflow prevention complianceMetered standpipes managementCapital works supportMeter data management, analysis, and reporting.Provide technical input and operational oversight of water meter management systems, including data quality management, remediation activities, system enhancements, and integration with related systems.Provide oversight of meter supplier and contractor engagement.Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of metering‑related procedures, guidelines, and standards, and represent the organisation on industry or technical working groups as required.Act as a technical lead and subject matter expert for metering, identifying operational issues, investigating root causes, and recommending practical and innovative solutions to meter‑related challenges.Lead the coordination and delivery of water loss performance monitoring and reporting for the water supply system.Lead, supervise, and develop team members through effective performance management, coaching, mentoring, and on‑the‑job capability development, fostering a safe, collaborative, and high‑performing team environment.Who we are looking for: We are looking for suitable candidates with Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or similar technical discipline and Technical and subject matter knowledge and experience relating to water networks and metering and associated technical standards.Candidates should also have:Technical and subject matter knowledge and experience relating to water networks and metering and associated technical standards.Significant experience in the development and implementation of asset management plans for specific assets.Experience in workplace health and safety, risk management and regulatory compliance within an operational or asset management environment.Experience in customer service and relationship building.Experience in negotiating and managing internal and external service agreements.Financial experience relating to asset management and service provision costing and budgeting.Demonstrated experience in leading, supervising and developing teams, including performance management, coaching and capability development.Experience in planning, prioritising and coordinating work programs to achieve organisational objectives.Experience in supporting and implementing change initiatives and continuous improvement within a technical or operational environment.Demonstrated experience in writing of technical reports and business cases.To find out more about the role you can view the dedtails on the Icon water Careers Portal.You can also contact Guy Price@iconwater.com.au via email for further information 0406376714.Please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your claims for this position through our Careers Portal.
