About the Position This position within the City’s Parks and Environment team leads the day-to-day delivery of horticultural maintenance across parks, streetscapes and garden areas. The position provides operational leadership to a small team to deliver high standards of turf and garden presentation while maintaining plant health and safe work practices. The role combines hands-on work with team coordination, including assessing site conditions, guiding maintenance activities and supporting garden rejuvenation and turf renovation programs. You will also oversee the safe operation of plant and equipment, contribute to improving work practices, and provide on-the-job guidance to team members. Strong organisation, communication and a proactive approach to safety, customer service and continuous improvement are essential. About You The successful person will have demonstrated experience in the horticulture field with the ability to apply technical knowledge in an operational environment. You will have a sound understanding of plant species suited to local conditions, along with knowledge of fertiliser and chemical products and their safe application. Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills are required to support and guide team members, prioritise work and respond to customer enquiries. You will also be comfortable using computer systems, maintain accurate records, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, particularly when working in road reserves and public spaces. A proactive approach and willingness to contribute ideas to improve work practices will be highly regarded. A current HR class driver’s licence and WA White Card are essential requirements for this role.
