About the role Melaleuca Women’s Prison is a maximum-security prison for women and is the remand, receival and assessment facility for the metropolitan area, including long term remand prisoners from regional areas. The Prison recognizes the unique needs of women in custody such as their poor health, poor family contact, substance misuse, histories of abuse, low levels of education and employment and their social dislocation. As a result, Melaleuca provides a supportive custodial environment which is responsive to these complex needs. The Relief Instructor will primarily relieve catering staff on leave and will also relieve Vocational Support Officers in other areas as instructed by prison management. The Relief Instructor will be responsible for the provision of productive work for prisoners, while also meeting training and production deadlines and maintaining the good order of the Prison. Eligibility Successful applicants must have a: Certificate III Trade Qualification. Valid manual "C" class motor vehicle driving licence. Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) accreditation (or equivalent) with a minimum of 12 months validity remaining. Construction Industry White Card. To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
