Schools Ministry Group (SMG) SMG provides ongoing pastoral and practical support through chaplaincy, Christian education, and wellbeing services to school communities in collaboration with the Christian community and other organisations. The Opportunity The Wellbeing Coach with Schools Ministry Group will provide a range of social and emotional coaching to school communities. They are responsible for implementing The Wellbeing Classroom or Wellbeing Playschool framework through site/class work and guidance by using social-emotional strategies and resources to improve overall wellbeing culture within an educational setting. The duties associated with this position include the following: 1. Work under the supervision of a Wellbeing Trainer to: Coach children in developing social and emotional skills, using Kimochis® and other wellbeing resources Guide educators on integrating these tools and approaches into daily practice. Assist the school in implementing a trauma informed approach Facilitate family learning events to parents and caregivers Maintain regular communication with school, SMG and other stakeholders Complete workplans and attend meetings as required Collect statistics and data on social emotional development of children as required and report in a timely manner. Collect and share feedback and stories from the school community Maintain a current knowledge of the needs of school communities and trauma informed practice 2. As a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to: Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people to whom we provide services Ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge Act as a positive role model for children and young people Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse, by personnel as well as external individuals to management Report any breaches of policy by other personnel, however minor, to management Act on and report any incidents of racism as outlined in our Code of Conduct Support children and young people to express their culture and enjoy their cultural rights Maintain valid Working with Children Check (or equivalent) documentation Undergo periodic ‘national criminal history record’ checks Report to management any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the course of your employment/volunteering that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people Qualifications/Experience: Appropriate qualifications in teaching, education, Youth Work, Ministry, or related field and/or demonstration of appropriate levels of experience, skills, and competency to complete the role efficiently Experience using Kimochis® resources with children DHS Working with Children Clearance Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care full training before commencement (provided by SMG as needed) Personal skills & Abilities Specification: High level communication skills Take initiative / be self-motivated Ability to develop and use resources creatively Organisational skills and efficient time management Works well under pressure and can be flexible when required Works well in a team environment Work with and respect people with different beliefs and values Can accept constructive feedback and direction If you would like to apply for this position, please click 'Apply Now' .
