Shooting Stars is a school-based education engagement program for Aboriginal girls and young women. Founded in 2015, Shooting Stars is the primary initiative of Glass Jar Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that comes under the wider umbrella of Netball WA. Now based within 22 schools across Western Australia and South Australia, Shooting Stars reaches over 1,200 girls and young women, building confidence, cultural identity, and positive connections through engagement activities, health and wellbeing sessions and enrichment programs. The team of staff, most of whom are Aboriginal women, walk alongside the Shooting Stars participants throughout their schooling journeys, while offering support, advocacy, and guidance to ensure they are empowered to make informed decisions and drive their own futures. Roles and Responsibilities: The Research & Data Integrity Officer is responsible for supporting the Research Manager (RM) with research, evaluation and organisational data governance across the Shooting Stars programs. Working collaboratively with the broader Shooting Stars team and reporting to the RM, you will: Assist the RM in preparing ethics submissions Prepare background research and structured literature reviews Conduct collaborative research with staff, program participants and communities Support the collection and creation of resources for staff training and service delivery Assist with the collation, maintenance and evaluation of data Assist with drafting reports and publications for communicating researching findings Support the funding team in interpretation of data, grant applications and acquittals Work collaboratively and foster relationships with Shooting Stars staff, school staff, community stakeholders and other service providers Qualifications and Criteria: We have a strong workplace culture. Our essential criteria include: Bachelor’s Degree (Research, Social Sciences, Public Health, Education, Data Science or related field) or equivalent professional experience Demonstrated experience in collecting, managing and analysing social research data High level computer literacy (Office Suite, Data Platforms, Survey Tools etc.) Accurate record keeping across all aspects of work Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and self-management skills Ability to work independently and part of a broader team Preparedness to be flexible in respect to work hours and travel Current WA driver’s licence Working with Children Check (obtained or willing to obtain) Desirable criteria include: Postgraduate degree in relevant field Experience with Indigenous research methodologies and community led frameworks Experience within the social impact space or not-for-profit sector Familiarity with WA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Additional Information: The role is offered as a full-time position but can be negotiated for part time hours with flexibility. The nature of the position requires some out of hours and weekend work. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate dependant on the level of experience.
