About the Position We are excited to welcome a Team Leader to join our Cairns Safehouse team in Far North Queensland. This is your chance to make a real difference by creating a safe, supportive environment for children awaiting reunification or placement. In this key position, you’ll oversee daily operations, maintain a safe and supportive environment, and lead your team in delivering a therapeutic family reunification model. You’ll also contribute to the on‑call roster, offering after‑hours and weekend support when required. · Level 5 SCHCADS Award. · Salary range: $100,784 - $105,350 Superannuation. · Full-time, Government funded/maximum term contract opportunity until 30 September 2026. Key Responsibilities: · Embed the Hope and Healing Framework into everyday care, ensuring children receive nurturing, trauma‑informed support. · Foster a positive, welcoming social environment that strengthens children’s sense of belonging and helps them build meaningful connections with family, community and culture. · Inspire and support a team of Residential Support Workers, guiding them to deliver trauma‑informed, culturally safe care grounded in the Hope and Healing Framework. · Work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure the home runs smoothly day‑to‑day, including maintaining a safe environment, managing resources, and supporting a calm, organised household. · Lead your team in creating a warm, nurturing home environment where each child’s emotional, cultural, physical, and educational needs are met with care and consistency. About You · A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services). · Hold or ability to obtain the Hope and Healing Foundations Framework certificate. · Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training would be well regarded. · Current Senior First Aid certificate or the ability to acquire. Other Requirements · Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption. · Current driver’s licence. · Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required). · Willingness to undergo and pass a Suitability Check before engagement in the provision of care services by licensed out-of-home care service providers under the Child Protection Act 1999 and Child Protection Regulation 2011. · Willingness to work flexibly on an on-call roster system, including weekends and sleep over shifts.
