Your Role Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victoria’s largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. The Youth Hub Program Facilitator is responsible for planning, leading and facilitating activities in the Youth Hub and On-country activities aimed at empowering youth through traditional skills, cultural connection, and community participation. The role involves providing meaningful, culturally relevant activities that support youth development, strengthen community ties, and celebrate cultural heritage, in line with the MDAS strategic plan to expand and enhance youth programs within the community. Including teaching youth to make traditional tools, identify bush tucker, and engaging in cultural practices. Additionally, the facilitator will organise sporting opportunities and foster meaningful engagement with elders and other youth groups to strengthen community bonds. This is a permanent, full time position based at our Mildura office location. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply. Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated understanding of underlying needs and issues of Community, including effective negotiation ability to develop and implement solutions. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of personal information. Knowledge of cultural practices and traditional skills. Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities. Demonstrated high level of communication and intercultural skills. Demonstrated commitment to community development and cultural preservation. Qualification/s & experience Relevant qualification or experience in the development and implementation of youth focused programs including engagement with community and other youth focused groups to identify and develop external activities for annual and school holiday excursions.
