About the Role We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Service Locator to join our growing Utility Mapping team. This is an excellent opportunity to start a rewarding career in underground asset mapping, working alongside experienced professionals who will support your training and development. As a trainee, you’ll learn to use advanced technologies, gain hands‑on experience in the field, and build foundational skills in locating and documenting underground utilities across a variety of projects. Key responsibilities As you develop your skills, you will be trained to: Assist with utility locating using industry‑leading equipment, including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and electromagnetic locating devices. Support the recording and documentation of underground services. Help maintain and care for locating equipment. Work alongside senior team members across diverse project environments. Contribute to safety, quality, and HSEQ compliance across all tasks. About You No prior locating experience is required - just a willingness to learn and grow. We’re looking for someone who is: Curious, proactive, and eager to develop new technical skills. Detail‑oriented, organised, and committed to accurate documentation. Comfortable working outdoors across varied site environments. A strong communicator and team player with a positive attitude. Holder of a valid Australian driver’s licence and white card, or willing to obtain the white card before starting. Desirable but not essential Basic understanding of construction or surveying. Familiarity with tools, equipment, or field‑based work. Willingness to work toward relevant accreditations (e.g., Certloc, ATCO High‑Pressure Gas, DCAC). Recent police clearance (or willingness to obtain).
