About the Role
We are seeking experienced Pipe Fitters for the upcoming AMPOL Refinery Turnaround. Working alongside Supervisors, Welders, Boilermakers and UGL/Ampol leadership, you will carry out piping installation, repairs, and shutdown maintenance activities to support safe and timely execution.
The turnaround runs from Mid-May – August 2026, working a 6 days on / 1 day off roster Night shift on 50% of scope.
This is a hands-on role requiring competency across pipe fabrication, fitting, mechanical shutdown work, and high-risk refinery conditions.

Key Responsibilities
•Perform all aspects of piping shutdown work including:
–Pipe fitting, fabrication and installation.
–Collaboration with coded welders for joint preparation and alignment
–Valve installation, replacement, and line reinstatement.
–Hydrotesting setup, execution, and documentation
–Flange management, gasket replacement, and torquing activities.
•Read and interpret piping isometrics, drawings, and piping work packs.
•Assist with high-risk tasks in oil refining and gas/chemical plant environments.
•Ensure strict compliance with Permit to Work and isolation processes.
•Conduct hazard identification, prestart checks, and JSA participation.
•Work cooperatively within mechanical and piping teams to meet schedule, scope, and quality targets.
•Liaise with NDE/NDT teams for joint inspections, weld testing and pressure testing outcomes.
•Maintain tools, housekeeping, and safe work standards at all times.
About You
•Trade qualified Pipe Fitter or Boilermaker with strong piping focus.
•Experience in oil refining, gas/chemical, or heavy industrial shutdowns and maintenance.
•Competent in pipe fitting, preparing welds, hydrotesting, valves, lines, and mechanical reinstatement.
•Understanding of welding processes and NDE/NDT requirements.
•Strong knowledge of high-risk work controls including confined space, isolation, hot work, and W@H.
•Safety-first mindset with excellent attention to detail.
•Physically capable, reliable, and effective under shutdown pressures.
•Able to work collaboratively within diverse piping and mechanical teams.
