Westpac is seeking a Manager for Business Controls and Monitoring to support 1LOD risk and control activities for People (HR) division. You’ll be a trusted risk and control expert, strengthening the People division control environment. In this role, you’ll lead incident verification, assessing and mitigating risks related to People function and completing control self‑assessments including supporting risk profile assessments. This role supports the traditional HR functions partnering with business to identify, manage and mitigate across run and change businesses You’ll provide risk support that continues to support pro-active risk culture and strengthen the risk and controls to support People business functions across run and change initiatives. This is a full‑time role based in Sydney , with flexibility to support work–life balance. (2 days in the office). What do I need? If you’re ready to own it and make an impact, here’s what will help you succeed: Strong understanding of risk frameworks, control testing, performing root cause analysis. Experience applying a data and analytical lens to risk, controls, and decision‑making (including using insights to drive better outcomes) Experience in working with technology/ IT‑enabled controls, with curiosity around automation, analytics, or emerging tools such as AI Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and translate insights into practical, business‑ready actions Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, able to confidently bring facts into practical actions for the business A proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge, improve processes, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment Why join us?
