Your impact As a Control Room Operator, you will play a critical role in the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the processing plant at Newmont’s Boddington Gold Mine. From the control room, you will monitor plant performance, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and coordinate closely with field operators to optimise throughput, recovery, and product quality - all while maintaining safe operating limits and compliance with site procedures. Your ability to diagnose process upsets, direct field operations, and support continuous improvement will directly contribute to safe production outcomes and plant reliability. As part of our team you will Monitor key plant parameters including flows, pressures, temperatures, and levelsStart up, shut down, and adjust plant equipment to maintain stable operationsOptimise throughput, recovery, and product quality through effective process controlRespond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions and initiate emergency responses when requiredMaintain safe operating limits at all times and identify and escalate process safety risksEnsure compliance with SOPs, permits, and isolation proceduresDirect field operators during both normal and abnormal operationsLiaise with maintenance teams during breakdowns and planned workProvide clear shift handovers and accurately log events, alarms, and process changesDiagnose process upsets using trends and alarms and support root cause analysisSuggest process improvements and operating changes to enhance performance and reliability Prerequisites for your success in the role Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Control Room or similar process control environmentStrong capability in process monitoring and control within an industrial or processing plantExperience with Yokogawa control systems (highly regarded)Proven ability to manage alarms, abnormal conditions, and competing prioritiesStrong communication skills with confidence directing field-based operatorsDemonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and risk awareness Your work environment This role is based at Boddington Gold Mine and operates on a 7 days on / 7 days off rotating day and night shift roster. You will be part of a high-performing processing team within a complex gold operation that prioritises safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
