As the national governing body, Basketball Australia (BA), in conjunction with our State & Territory member associations, is at the forefront of promoting, fostering, and developing the sport of basketball across the country. BA is also responsible for safeguarding the sport in Australia. The Role BA is seeking nominations from suitably qualified and experienced people, particularly women, for election as a Director for a four-year term. Directors share ultimate responsibility for BA’s overall success. Directors are expected to work together to carry out the following roles: Contribute to the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the organisation Uphold the BA Values and the highest standards of corporate governance and integrity Provide independent judgment on Board decisions Oversee organisational performance, risk management, and compliance Support the development of the sport across grassroots, pathways, and high-performance levels Act as an ambassador for the organisation and the sport nationally Criteria BA is currently seeking applicants with previous Board experience (AICD or similar qualifications preferred) along with one or more of the following skills and experience: Essential: Public affairs and Government relations experience including advocacy and lobbying People and culture skills, including change management experience Public relations, media and communications expertise High Performance Sport experience Marketing and branding experience Experience in Philanthropic leadership, governance and/or engagement Desirable skills: Risk management leadership at a Board and/or Board Committee level Strategic planning leadership and facilitation Information Technology and Digital Innovation expertise Consumer insights and associated experience in research techniques Desirable attributes: Engages authentically with the Board and key stakeholders Strategic decision maker and influencer Collaborative problem solver High degree of emotional intelligence How to Apply Please submit a cover letter, resume, the Nomination Form and completed Skills and Attributes Assessment Form to: Matt Scriven Chief Executive Officer Basketball Australia Please submit via email to simon.bishop@australia.basketball , by midnight (AEDT) Monday 9 March 2026.
