The business has a workforce in SA, ACT & QLD engaged across support, care, and administrative functions. Due to the scale, regulatory complexity, and ongoing growth of the organisation, BIDE With Care requires a dedicated, full-time Accountant to manage its financial operations at a professional level. The Accountant role is critical to ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and strategic financial planning within a highly regulated environment, including compliance with NDIS pricing arrangements, funding acquittals, and Commonwealth and State reporting obligations. Position Purpose The Accountant is responsible for providing specialised, high-level financial management, reporting, analysis, and compliance services tailored specifically to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) operating environment. This position requires in-depth professional accounting expertise and a strong understanding of NDIS funding structures, compliance obligations, pricing arrangements, and financial governance requirements. The role involves the exercise of professional judgment, analytical capability, and strategic financial advisory skills. The Accountant acts as a key financial partner to senior management, ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable, compliant with NDIS and statutory obligations, and well-positioned to support high-quality service delivery to NDIS participants. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Analysis ·Prepare, review, and interpret monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), with specific consideration of NDIS funding and revenue recognition requirements. ·Analyse financial performance across multiple NDIS service streams, funding categories, and programs, identifying trends, variances, funding risks, and sustainability issues. ·Prepare detailed management reports and financial dashboards for directors and senior management, translating complex financial data into meaningful insights. ·Monitor cash flow, funding receivables, and cost allocations to ensure financial stability in an environment where payment timing and funding structures can be complex. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Strategic Support ·Develop and manage detailed annual budgets and rolling forecasts aligned with NDIS funding arrangements, service delivery models, and workforce requirements. ·Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business planning, service expansion, and strategic decision-making within the NDIS framework. ·Provide strategic financial advice to management to optimise operational efficiency, pricing structures, and resource allocation while remaining compliant with NDIS price limits. ·Support long-term financial sustainability through margin analysis, cost-control initiatives, and performance benchmarking. Compliance and Statutory Obligations ·Ensure compliance with Australian taxation requirements, including GST (with specific consideration of NDIS-related GST treatments), PAYG withholding, payroll tax, and BAS/IAS lodgements. ·Ensure compliance with NDIS financial governance, reporting, and funding acquittal requirements, including maintaining accurate records to support audits and regulatory reviews. ·Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and regulatory bodies to support quarterly and year-end reporting, audits, and compliance reviews. Internal Controls and Risk Management ·Design, implement, and monitor robust internal financial controls appropriate to an NDIS provider operating in a highly regulated environment. ·Identify financial, compliance, and funding risks specific to NDIS operations and develop mitigation strategies to protect the organisation’s financial position. ·Ensure financial systems, documentation, and processes are audit-ready and capable of withstanding regulatory scrutiny. Systems, Process Improvement, and Advisory ·Review and enhance accounting systems, financial policies, and procedures to support the complexities of NDIS funding and organisational growth. ·Provide professional accounting advice to senior management on financial management, compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic planning within the NDIS landscape. ·Support grant funding, government reporting and ad-hoc financial data requests associated with NDIS operations. Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Essential Requirements ·Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting or a closely related field. ·Minimum of 1–3 years’ post-qualification experience in a professional accounting role. ·Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and management reports. ·Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards. ·Experience in the NDIS, health, aged care, and community services sector. ·Familiarity with NDIS funding models, compliance, and reporting frameworks. ·Experience working in a growing or multi-site organisation. ·High-level analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills. ·Ability to exercise professional judgment and provide financial advice to management. ·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
