Principal Policy Officer Clerk Grade: 11/12 Annual Salary Range: $149,739 - $173,174 plus superannuation Work Type: Temporary, full-time until 30 June 2026 (with possibility of extension) Location: Sydney (hybrid working arrangements available) About the role The Office of the Registrar General (ORG) is seeking a highly capable Principal Policy Officer to lead complex policy and legislative work to uplift privacy, consent and data governance arrangements within the NSW property transaction process. The work is critical to ensuring privacy compliance, improving customer outcomes, and enabling future digital service improvements across government. Key responsibilities Lead analysis to identify and define changes required to uplift privacy collection statements, privacy provisions and consent processes within the property transaction lifecycle. Undertake policy and legislative analysis to determine whether amendments are required to the supporting legislation and define the scope of any required changes. Develop practical roadmaps that set out responsibilities, sequencing and timeframes for delivering agreed privacy and legislative reforms. Provide authoritative advice on privacy, consent and information handling risks in complex, multi-agency data-sharing environments. Work closely with legal advisers, delivery teams and partner agencies to translate policy and legal outcomes into implementable change. Prepare high-quality written products including executive briefs, recommendations and decision papers for senior governance forums. Support engagement with oversight and advisory bodies, including privacy and information governance stakeholders. About you You are a seasoned policy professional with strong expertise in privacy, information governance or regulatory reform, and a proven ability to operate at a senior level in complex government environments. Substantial experience developing and delivering policy, legislative or regulatory reform, particularly in areas involving privacy, consent or information handling. Strong knowledge of privacy principles, legislative frameworks and public sector governance. Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing advice for senior executives. Proven stakeholder engagement skills across agencies and disciplines. Why join ORG?
