Casual Position | North West Tasmania About the Role As an Education Officer, you will be the face of community waste education throughout the region, from school classrooms to community groups, senior groups, households, and public events. Your role will centre on delivering engaging presentations, facilitating learning, and supporting residents to improve their waste‑sorting behaviours. You will also play an important part in the North West Resource Recovery and Recycling (NWRRR) program by assisting with kerbside bin assessments and providing constructive feedback to households. This role is ideal for someone who is confident speaking to diverse audiences, passionate about sustainability, and capable of building positive relationships across the community. What You’ll Do Deliver engaging waste and recycling education sessions to schools, community groups, and residents. Communicate clearly and persuasively to encourage positive behaviour change. Assist in kerbside bin checks and provide respectful feedback to households. Identify opportunities to improve community education initiatives. Provide community insights and feedback to the Business Services Manager. Work collaboratively with project teams to deliver programs on time and within scope. Travel across the region to attend sessions, meetings, and events. What You’ll Bring Excellent verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to unfamiliar or diverse audiences. Strong written skills for preparing educational content and reports. Ability to engage, influence, and educate people of all ages. High level of personal organisation, reliability, and initiative. Experience building positive relationships with stakeholders. Strong time‑management and ability to work independently. Competent conflict‑resolution skills for occasional public interactions. Current driver’s licence and access to a fully insured vehicle. Ability to obtain a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
