Senior DevOps Engineer Job No: 678725 Sydney - Inner Suburbs & CBD, Brisbane - Inner Suburbs & CBD Permanent Full Time IT Pay Band 5 Build and improve CI/CD and automation for mission critical Insurance platforms Work with modern cloud, containers, and DevOps tooling, with strong learning pathways Brisbane or Sydney About The Role As a Senior DevOps Engineer in Insurance Technology, you will design and improve tooling, infrastructure automation, and CI CD pipelines that help teams ship safely and often. You will partner with engineers across delivery and operations to reduce manual work, strengthen reliability, and lift developer productivity across our cloud platforms. You will also support continuous improvement in monitoring, documentation, and incident response so customers experience dependable service. What You'll Do Design, build, and maintain DevOps capabilities, including automation, CI CD pipelines, and deployment patterns that improve delivery speed and reliability. Collaborate with agile delivery teams to embed DevOps practices across the software development lifecycle, from build through to release and support. Automate infrastructure and configuration using Terraform and Ansible, reducing manual steps and improving repeatability across environments. Strengthen platform monitoring and operational practices, and contribute to incident resolution with clear runbooks and SOPs. Maintain and evolve branching, testing, and quality practices for DevOps code, including unit and integration testing. Track work in Jira and participate in agile ceremonies, sharing knowledge to lift team capability and continuous improvement outcomes. What You'll Bring Strong hands-on scripting experience in Python, Shell, and JavaScript, applied to automation and platform enablement. Deep experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and VPCs, plus container platforms including EKS and OpenShift ROSA. Proven experience designing and running CI CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI CD, Harness, or Bamboo, with Git based version control. Experience integrating security and observability tooling such as Snyk, Fortify, Dynatrace, Splunk, and ServiceNOW to improve deployment confidence and operational insight. Previous experience with Terraform and Ansible along with the Python scripting. Ability to develop REST API integrations that connect toolchains and support scalable automation workflows.
