An exciting opportunity exists for a Plumbing Inspector to join a dedicated Inspectorate team in this fixed term opportunity until October 2026. The Inspector, Plumbing in Plumbing Surveillance team is responsible for undertaking inspections/surveillance and audit activities to drive and ensure suitable levels of practitioner compliance with relevant legislation, codes and Australian Standards, and the monitoring and enforcement of industry and practitioner performance in meeting compliance obligations. The Inspector, Plumbing will respond to consumer complaints and support the VBA's efforts to tackle complex building related plumbing matters and regulatory priorities, including conducting multi-disciplinary inspections. The Inspector, Plumbing Surveillance will document and communicate compliance expectations to practitioners and exercise statutory powers in line with VBA policies and guidelines. What we are looking for: * Registered or ability to gain registration as a plumber in main classes of plumbing work under Part 12A of the Building Act 1993. Demonstrated experience in conducting site inspections and audits with an understanding of contemporary regulatory principles and practices for all classes of commercial and domestic buildings. Knowledge of the Victorian Building Regulatory Framework contained in the Building Act 1993, Plumbing Regulations 2018, National Construction Code and relevant Australian standards and codes. Ability to communicate information efficiently and effectively to internal and external stakeholders over the phone, in person and in email.
