This role will see you take ownership of Active Directory hardening, modernising core identity services, and eliminating insecure protocols - all while ensuring production stability. The Opportunity You'll play a key role in strengthening the organisation's Windows and identity platform, partnering with architects and project teams while still remaining hands-on in BAU operations. This is a balanced 50/50 project and operational role, ideal for an engineer who can think strategically, assess risk, and implement change safely with a security mindset who enjoys solving complex AD and platform challenges in a live environment. Key Responsibilities Harden and modernise Active Directory (Domain Controllers, GPO, DNS, DHCP) Identify and remediate insecure / legacy protocols Implement changes without disrupting critical services Administer and optimise Windows Server 2016-2022 environments Manage and upgrade VMware vCenter / ESXi platforms Deliver server patching via MECM Collaborate with security, infrastructure and project teams Essential Experience Strong Active Directory engineering background Deep experience across Windows Server Proven VMware vSphere / vCenter administration and host upgrades Experience with enterprise patching using MECM Ability to work across BAU and project delivery environments Clear documentation and stakeholder communication skills Nice to Have Linux (RHEL / Ubuntu) Hyper-V Cisco UCS / HyperFlex What Makes This Role Stand Out Work on a genuine cyber uplift program, not just BAU support Large-scale, highly virtualised enterprise environment Long-term contract with strong extension potential Collaborative team with direct access to architects and decision makers If you're an infrastructure engineer that enjoys working on prem and knows your way around Windows Server, Virtualisation and Active Directory I'd love to hear from you.
