About the role This position sits within the Strategic Land Use Planning team and is a permanent full time role. It would suit a highly motivated individual seeking strategic planning experience in a busy and high-performing Council. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the on-going management of Council’s land use planning policy framework. This includes preparing strategies, policies and precinct plans; preparing, assessing and processing planning proposals (Local Environmental Plan amendments); preparing Development Control Plans and other related work to achieve the specific outcomes identified in City of Parramatta’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan; and for contributing to the achievements of the City Planning and Design Directorate overall. On a daily basis you will: Support projects to achieve tight deadlines in a flexible and complex work environment. Coordinate, interpret, present and communicate regular reports and other formal documents for relevant audiences, including Council. Provide professional advice to planning applications and other project priorities, and help guide Council’s strategic vision for the city. Manage the research and analysis of urban design with synergies to land use and transport planning, economic development, environmental and social trends to inform urban design and strategic plans. Integrate land use planning with urban design, transport, environment (including flood management), social and economic outcomes, particularly in precinct and large-scale planning proposal contexts. About You You must have Tertiary qualifications in town planning or equivalent. Proven experience in statutory or strategic town planning or allied professional experience and an understanding of the NSW planning system, with a track record of achieving strategic objectives with demonstrated success in working with or for the public sector. Demonstrated skills and experience in analytical, creative thinking and problem solving across a range of strategic projects and multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated experience delivering innovative and effective land use planning solutions, through advice, guidelines and policy. Demonstrated skills in written communication for diverse audiences, including development of reports. Ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and technique. Well-developed planning, organisation and time management skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance competing priorities. What’s on offer We are offering an attractive remuneration fr om $104,610.61 to $115,174.86 plus 12% superannuation.
