Base Salary $127,436 (Pro rata) 17% superannuation About the opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Research‑Focused Academic to contribute to the university’s national leadership in the field of metabolic health and pregnancy , a multidisciplinary area encompassing obesity, diabetes and pregnancy . The role will suit an emerging or established researcher who is passionate about improving health outcomes for women and their children through high‑quality, impactful research. As a key member of the discipline, you will apply and further refine your expertise in research methodologies, study design, and research delivery. You will undertake innovative research either independently or as part of a collaborative research team, contributing to the evidence base that informs clinical practice, prevention strategies, and future policy in metabolic and pregnancy health. Working under broad direction, you will translate research accountabilities into actionable tasks, ensuring high‑quality outputs and meaningful progress against project goals. As a subject‑matter expert, you will be expected to provide sound, evidence‑based advice, contribute to decision‑making within your projects, and resolve complex or escalated issues relevant to your research responsibilities. This role offers the opportunity to build a distinguished research profile, generate high‑impact publications, and contribute to knowledge that shapes the future of maternal and metabolic health across the life course. Your key responsibilities will be to: clinical trial management and coordination with extensive experience in clinical trial documentation and use of relevant software’s including but not limited to REGIS for ethics and governance submission processes, RedCAP building and record maintenance for secure data entry, and the Clinical trial management system (CTMS). patient data management in accordance with IHC-GCP requirements, the candidate must demonstrate a familiarity with the required processes for maintaining patient privacy and the safe and secure storage of patient related data. laboratory based experience and proteomics and can work independently in techniques such as Mass spectrometry, and traditional laboratory-based techniques such as histology (IHC and IF), western blots and ELISAs. competency working with small animal models, and experience with animal ethics processes. The candidate must be comfortable with animal handling & monitoring, small animal surgery, administration of treatments via subcutaneous injection, and cull procedures including cardiac puncture. academic communication skills, the candidate must demonstrate a strong track record of scientific communication in both written and verbal formats, with work accepted for publication in peer reviewed journals and accepted for presentation at both national and international academic conferences, with demonstrated success in grant writing preferred. experience with cell-based work, including both 2D and 3D cell-based techniques such as organoids used to mimic human structures and disease states. capability using data analysis software, including at a minimum GraphPad, ImageJ, excel, and R, and comfortable working with large epidemiological data sets. independent student supervision & teaching, the candidate must have experience independently leading research projects with experience teaching in a university setting preferred.
