We are seeking a Research Fellow to support Melanie Wyld and her research team focusing on skin cancer treatments for vulnerable people including kidney transplant recipients and over 65 age years population cohort. Your key responsibilities will be to: · design, conduct, and analyse original research studies investigating the prevention, early detection, and treatment of skin cancers in high‑risk populations, including kidney transplant recipients and adults aged over 65 · lead and contribute to the development of study protocols, ethics applications, data collection methodologies, and statistical analysis plans for clinical, observational, and translational skin cancer research · generate high‑quality research outputs through preparation of peer‑reviewed journal articles, technical reports, and presentations at national and international dermatology, oncology, and public health conferences · develop and maintain a strong research profile in skin cancer epidemiology, health services research, and outcomes evaluation relevant to vulnerable cohorts · build and sustain collaborations with clinicians, dermatologists, transplant teams, government health agencies, and community partners to ensure research findings inform real‑world practice and policy · drive translational research activities such as evidence synthesis, economic evaluations, and implementation science approaches that support improved models of care for high‑risk patients · contribute to the preparation of high‑quality grant applications, including collecting preliminary data, drafting scientific sections, and developing research impact statements aligned with funding priorities · ensure rigorous research conduct through strong data governance, adherence to clinical research standards, and maintenance of reproducible, ethically compliant research practices · supervise or co‑supervise postgraduate students working on skin cancer, transplant medicine, or ageing‑related research topics, supporting their methodological development and academic progress · contribute to project coordination, progress reporting, meeting facilitation, and School‑level service activities that support the smooth operation of the research program · actively contribute to a collaborative, inclusive research culture, supporting multidisciplinary teamwork and diverse research perspectives across the School of Public Health · communicate research findings to academic, clinical, policy and community audiences through seminars, public engagement, industry briefings, and professional forums About you · PhD in Medicine, Public Health or a related discipline, with demonstrated research excellence in kidney transplantation, chronic kidney disease, immunosuppression‑related complications or high‑risk population health · proven experience conducting original research in kidney transplantation, chronic kidney disease, immunosuppression‑related complications or high‑risk population health, including designing studies, leading systematic reviews, performing statistical analyses and generating peer‑reviewed publications · active engagement in scholarly activity, including contributing to clinical guideline evidence reviews (e.g., KDIGO, CARI), presenting at professional transplant and nephrology meetings and participating in national or international research · a developing network of academic, clinical and industry partners, particularly across nephrology, dermatology, transplant services, health economics, and evidence‑based practice networks · a developing research profile in clinical epidemiology, immunosuppression effects, kidney transplant outcomes, or high‑risk cohort research, with capacity to extend this expertise into skin cancer prevention and early detection · proven experience supervising and mentoring others, including postgraduate students, junior researchers, or clinical trainees, and supporting their development in systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, epidemiology and research methods · strong computer literacy, including statistical software, systematic review platforms, reference management tools, data analysis packages and digital collaboration systems used in clinical research · effective presentation skills, demonstrated through conference abstracts, oral presentations, invited seminars, and stakeholder workshops across nephrology and public health · strong planning and organisational abilities, with a record of coordinating research workflows, managing deadlines, supporting guideline evidence reviews and ensuring high‑quality research outputs · excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex clinical evidence for clinicians, policymakers, patient groups and interdisciplinary research teams · a customer service mindset, reflected in your ability to work respectfully and responsively with clinicians, patients, community partners, and collaborators within multidisciplinary research programs · a strong foundation in research methodology, including evidence synthesis, longitudinal data analysis, health economic evaluation, qualitative methods, discrete choice experiments, and mixed‑methods kidney
