Solution Architect 12 Month, Daily Rate Contract Melbourne We are partnering with a leading digital platform organisation to engage a Solution Architect for a major global platform transformation programme. This is a high impact contract role working on a complex, event driven, distributed system supporting real time, high volume transactions across multiple international markets. The platform is built predominantly on in-house Java based services with extensive internal and external integrations. We are seeking a strong software focused architect who understands how modern Java applications are designed, integrated, and scaled within distributed environments. Key Responsibilities Design end to end solution architectures across distributed, Java-based systems Define event-driven integration patterns and messaging strategies Architect Kafka-based event streaming solutions Work closely with engineering teams across Australia and Europe Contribute to architectural governance, design reviews, and technical standards Balance strategic platform direction with practical delivery requirements Key Skills and Experience Strong background in software engineering or application architecture Solid understanding of Java-based application ecosystems Proven experience designing event-driven architectures Experience working with Kafka and messaging platforms Deep understanding of distributed systems and integration patterns Experience operating in high scale, high-availability digital environments Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders Previous experience in high-transaction environments is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
