About the role This is an exciting opportunity for a Payroll and Accounts Officer to join our highly successful finance team in Melbourne. Please note that we will also consider applications from Sydney. The Payroll and Accounts Officer will take ownership of payroll as the key point of contact for our business. This role sits at the intersection of payroll, People and Culture, and Finance, and is critical to ensuring our people are paid accurately, on time, and in line with legislation and awards. Payroll is the primary focus of this role. You will work closely with the People and Culture team to support employee lifecycle changes and payroll queries, while also providing general support to the Finance team across day-to-day finance activities. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys being the go-to person for payroll, values accuracy and trust, and is comfortable supporting the broader Finance team. Key responsibilities Payroll End to end processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries from employees and leaders Work closely with the People and Culture team to manage starters, leavers, changes to employment conditions and leave Ensure compliance with relevant awards, legislation, superannuation, PAYG and payroll tax Prepare and submit payroll related reporting, including STP and superannuation Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls Finance support Support the Finance team with accounts payable and receivable tasks as required Assist with invoice processing, reconciliations and general finance administration Provide support during month end or peak workload periods Assist with ad hoc finance tasks and projects as needed Qualifications and Experience Required: 3 years’ experience in an end-to-end payroll role, ideally with exposure to accounts support Sound working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements Confident acting as the first point of contact for payroll related queries Experience working with payroll and accounting systems such as ELMO, Employment Hero, Workday, MYOB or similar Strong attention to detail and a high level of integrity and discretion Clear communicator who enjoys working closely with People and Culture and Finance teams Comfortable working independently while being part of a collaborative team Culture and Benefits Join our inclusive and people-focussed culture.
