About the Role As the Senior Safety Advisor, you will lead the setup, monitoring and continuous improvement of health and safety systems on site. You will work closely with contractors, service providers, project leadership and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, Inland Rail policies and safety expectations. You will support mobilisation activities, conduct audits, prepare safety documentation and training materials, investigate incidents, and provide expert advice to support safe and efficient project delivery. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, National Rail Safety Law and Inland Rail safety requirements. Provide guidance, coaching and support to embed strong health and safety practices. Monitor safety performance on site and ensure contractors meet their safety obligations. Conduct audits (including third‑party contractors) and participate in risk assessments. Develop or review safety documentation including Project Health and Safety Plans, toolbox talks and training materials. Lead and deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety training. Review safety aspects of contracts and third‑party safety plans. Support onboarding of service providers from a health and safety perspective. Investigate incidents and manage incident notifications to Inland Rail and the Regulator where required. Prepare accurate safety performance reporting for Project Directors and the Safety Team. Liaise with stakeholders on health and safety matters, both internal and external. Ensure compliance with Inland Rail's CARE Values, Code of Conduct, IMS and EMS requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement and champion proactive safety behaviours. Build strong, collaborative working relationships across the project team. To be successful, you will have: Qualification in Health & Safety, or proven experience in a similar HSE role within rail or a comparable industry. Strong knowledge of state and federal safety legislation and standards. Demonstrated experience conducting health and safety audits. Ability to prepare high‑quality safety documents. Highly organised, disciplined, and capable of working independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Current RIW card (or ability to obtain quickly). Current Class C Driver's Licence. Desirable Experience on linear infrastructure or regional projects. Health and Safety auditing qualifications.
