About The Role We're currently seeking dedicated individuals for multiple casual positions. As a Library Assistant each day will bring its own unique challenges and experiences including opportunities to engage with community members from all walks of life, each bringing their own perspectives, backgrounds, and needs. We are looking for team players with a strong work ethic who are passionate about working in City Libraries and enjoy engaging with people from all backgrounds. You will warmly greet City Libraries' customers, guiding them to the right resources and services to meet their needs, while also promoting our offerings, e-Resources, and library programs. About You To succeed in this role, you will bring strong emotional maturity and resilience, with the ability to respond to a wide range of situations with empathy, adaptability, and professionalism. You communicate clearly and confidently, building positive and respectful connections within a diverse community. You are comfortable learning new technologies and can quickly adapt to digital tools and equipment, using them confidently to support customers in accessing library resources and services. This role also requires the physical capacity to undertake regular shelving and movement of library materials, along with extended periods working on the library floor. Tasks include bending, reaching, lifting, and standing for prolonged periods. Flexibility is essential, as you will be required to be available to work across the entire Library Service and undertake weekend shifts in line with operational requirements. Our Library Service operates across multiple locations, including Southport, Broadbeach, Nerang, Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Ormeau, Upper Coomera, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Coolangatta, Elanora, and Robina. As a casual role, there are no guaranteed number of hours of work. Applicants should be comfortable with sporadic shift offerings.
