Location – Proserpine Temporary / Full Time (24 months) Starting $39,266.66 per annum The Role An exciting opportunity exists within our Infrastructure Services Directorate for a Laboratory Assistant Trainee. Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to complete the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills over a nominal 24-month traineeship. Continued employment beyond the traineeship is not guaranteed. In this role, you will receive structured, on-the-job training while supporting Council’s laboratory and water quality operations. Eligibility Requirements To be eligible, you must be: Aged 15 years or older and no longer at school; and Able to meet citizenship, residency or visa requirements for a traineeship. You must also identify with at least one of the following: A young person (15–24 years), including those in or transitioned from out-of-home care Long-term unemployed job seeker Mature-age job seeker (45 years) Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person Migrant or refugee from a culturally and linguistically diverse background Person with a disability Displaced worker (retrenched or redundant) Woman re-entering the workforce Veteran, ex-ADF member or immediate family member Essential Requirements Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills sufficient to complete the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills Ability to study and complete assessments within set timeframes Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload Construction Induction (White Card), or ability to obtain Willingness to undertake Hepatitis B immunisation review and possible vaccination Desirable C Class Manual Drivers Licence.
