Utilise your analytical expertise to provide support and advice to the Evidence and Insights branch 5 x full-time positions, working with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service 2 x Ongoing vacancies, 3 x Fixed-term vacancies VPS Grade 5: $113,022 - $136,747 plus superannuation. About the Business Unit: Evidence and Insights is tasked with supporting the Chief Operating Officer in leading the department's agenda in the delivery of justice and community safety services in Victoria by providing a strong evidence base for the development of effective policy and effective organisational management. Evidence and Insights focuses on meeting the department's data needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. It is also responsible for providing end-to-end evidence-based policy support across the department and the reporting of data and research to the Victorian public through the Crime Statistics Agency. About the Role: Multiple Senior Data Analysts are sought to work in Evidence and Insights across the following teams: Research and Analytics - focused on linked system data analysis to inform policy development and justice intervention evaluation. (1 X Ongoing, 1 X Fixed-term) Analytics Products - focused on developing new data products and insights that improve the evidence base available on the criminal justice system, for example new bail related statistics. (1 X Fixed-term) Investment Analytics - focused on providing program effectiveness and cost benefit analysis for justice interventions, particularly for the State Budget process. (1 X Fixed-term) Data Delivery and Reporting - focused on delivering public reporting through the Crime Statistics Agency, including annual and monthly reports as well as ABS data inputs, quarterly DPS data, annual ROGS data, regular PPQ updates, data to support PAEC hearings and data for the National Prisoner Health Data Collection (1 X Ongoing) The Senior Data Analysts will be responsible for providing high-quality data and analysis to support public reporting and evidence-based policy and program development. The roles will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering high-quality data analytics and research projects using Victoria Police, Corrections Victoria and other crime and justice data sources as required. These positions will also present analytical findings in written and visual formats and develop and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to understand and meet their information needs. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Experienced in data reporting and statistical analyses (experience in crime and justice or comparable subject matter area highly regarded) Skilled in communicating insights from complex analyses to enable evidence-based decision making in written and visual formats, and presentations Experience in the use of data analysis programs, ideally SQL, AWS RedShift and Power BI but others also considered (e.g. R, Tableau) Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to develop strong relationships with a range of stakeholders to understand their data and analytical needs. Qualifications/Requirements: * A tertiary qualification and/or experience in statistics, criminology, economics, data analytics, social science or a related field with a major focus on quantitative research methods or data analysis is highly desirable.
