At ALS, we encourage you to dream big. When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future. Help us simplify safety. Make it usable. Make it stick. At ALS, we’re committed to keeping our people safe and well—and we’re looking for a fun, organised and people-first Safety Advisor who genuinely enjoys planning work, tracking progress, and turning “safety clutter” into a modern, easy-to-use system that teams actually engage with. This is a 6-month contract opportunity to partner with a supportive safety leader and engaged site leaders to re-baseline and refresh our local HSE systems, starting with a pilot at our Scoresby site (day to day you will work side by side with our site base HSE Advisor(s) and with support of your leader who looks after the HSE multiple business streams). From there, you’ll help roll the approach through additional Victorian sites in Wave 2 and 3 during the contract period, with strong potential to extend for the right person. The role Working closely with site leaders and our safety leadership team, you’ll modernise and simplify how safety is done locally—while keeping compliance rock-solid and accountabilities clear. Key focus areas include: Leading the Scoresby pilot to re-baseline the site safety management system, then scaling the model across other sites/businesses to drive consistency, usability and accountability. Reviewing and reducing safety clutter (remove duplication, improve structure and clarity) Aligning site documentation and practices to ALS Global Safety Standards Ensuring local legal compliance (VIC/AU) is clearly reflected in site systems and documentation Refreshing the site risk/aspect register so it’s clear, current, and easy to maintain Updating/streamlining local HSE documentation so requirements, responsibilities and “how we comply” are simple to follow Building practical action plans, sequencing work, and tracking progress to completion Supporting rollout to additional Victorian sites in planned waves, capturing learnings and continuously improving the approach About you: You’re practical, collaborative and organised—and you get energy from building systems that people can actually use. You’ll bring: Experience in an HSE / Safety Advisor (or similar) role within operational environments Confidence partnering with leaders and teams to influence change (without “policing”) Strong skills in planning, prioritising and tracking deliverables Experience simplifying/improving safety systems, documentation, registers, procedures and site tools Working knowledge of Australian WHS legislative requirements and site-based compliance Clear communication, a proactive approach, and a “let’s make this better” mindset A genuine reaction of: “This sounds like fun—I love making safety usable and accountable.” Travel requirements: This role is based at Scoresby (VIC) initially and includes regional travel within Victoria to support Wave 2 and Wave 3 sites. Travel will be planned in advance wherever possible. In this role you’ll get: A genuine opportunity to build and improve, not just maintain Support from leaders who care and want you to succeed Potential to extend beyond 6 months and collaborate on broader safety programs (for the right candidate) Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
